Mrs. Vaishali Singh, Assistant Director and Course Coordinator of Forest Fire Management Courses at NFSC, *participated as a technical contributor representing the National Fire Service College (NFSC), Nagpur*, in the two-day National Workshop on Forest Fire Management held on 1–2 March 2026 at the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal. The workshop was graced by Dr. K. Ravichandran, Director, IIFM and Dr. Clement Ben, IG of Forests; along with distinguished representatives from the World Bank, FSI, ICFRE, ISRO, NFSC, and various State Forest Departments. The sessions were highly engaging and featured in-depth technical deliberations and panel discussions. Mrs. Singh shared her expert perspectives on forest fire containment strategies, mechanized firefighting equipment, effective fire laning techniques, and capacity building initiatives, drawing upon NFSC’s training and operational experience. The workshop served as a significant platform for strengthening inter-agency coordination and advancing sustainable forest fire management practices across the country.

National Fire Service College Under New Leadership Dr Anant R Sontake has taken charge as Director of the National Fire Service College NFSC, Nagpur on 28.02.2026, succeeding Shri N B Shingane on his superannuation. Dr Sontake joined NFSC in March 2024 and is the first Professor appointed under the Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India. An alumnus of NFSC, he completed his BE in Fire Engineering from NFSC and earned his ME and PhD from RTM Nagpur University. With over 25 years of experience, he previously served at Steel Authority of India Limited Bhilai in senior positions including Additional Chief Fire Officer and General Manager Safety. He has contributed significantly to fire safety, industrial safety, research, and innovation, and has led several key initiatives at NFSC. Under his leadership, NFSC aims to further strengthen its role as a premier institute for Fire and Emergency Services training and research in India.
